Actually that Bofang radio works quit well. I purchased one last year and I was really surprised of that made in China radio.

I used all of Gordon’s books to get me through Amateur Extra Class. There are some great sites to go practice your testing. aa9pw.com/radio/

@dafrogtoad the general has almost twice as many questions if I remember, and the extra has almost 900… but if I can pass em all, you for SURE can !

good times brother. you might as well take the General while you are at it, its free and the off chance that you pass is slim unless you study, but you sould get a 60% or so on it.
Study for it a little… and maybe you can knock em both out….

They have prep tests that will help you! There are like three hundred possible questions that will could be asked on the test. The prep test are made up of these questions. While the prep test is not exactly the same as the actual test. The questions are. You will become familar with the questions… Look for latest version as it was all updated in the last year or two!! Then for anything that you don’t understand Gordons book will have the answer!! Hope that helps!!

@dafrogtoad thanks.. I have so much to learn.. The electronis and laws part of this exam are pretty straight forward but, i’m still confused on what a tech can and can’t do.. And how far can I transmit etc.. a lot of the youtube vids are either reviews or testing or way over my head..

@cmobley69 I have a Baofeng 2m/440 handheld..not the BEST unit, but seems ok. The Wouxon handhelds seem to be the popular ones for beginners. You can see them both at Wouxonusdotcom…I DO have an HT set..but it sits waiting for me as I do not have the license yet to operate it legally

@cmobley69 EVERY person I spoke with said it easier to go for BOTH at the same time..if I can get the study material..I’ll probably do it..just depends on that and timing..

sorry if i’m asking a dork question but, I haven’t seen your 1st 2 vids.. do you have a radio now?? Because I don’t and even tho the test seems pretty easy im gonna feel lost on the radio.
