Now we can see why there are movie stars and experts that really know how to be on camera, how to present riviting information, and why no one in their right minds would bother with YouTube…. Yawn

You’re a fucking moron, dude. Hams have saved tons of lives in 9/11, and even RECENTLY have provided essential communications in haiti.

You HOA faggots will be wishing to GOD you had one of those ‘antiquated odd balls’ in your neighborhood when a fuckin tornado comes thru. Your pussy ass cell phones wont fuckin work you DUMBASS.

Get the fuck off youtube, TROLL.

Nice video! I’m studying for my technician ticket and hopefully will test in the next month or so. Even though I think I know a lot, videos like these can always teach someone (except a real expert) something. Thanks for making it!

I have to give it to Kurt, how many of us with all the “knowledge” on ham radio have posted explanatory videos about it?????
Cool vid Kurt keep it up!

I mean no disrespect to kurt as a person, but if your going to post videos to teach, then you better know what your talking about. Would you like to have the same misinformation at your children’s school? I didn’t think so.

I defended your previous video about “increasing your range” while it was playing. The harshness of the comments startled me. I do have to say, however, that you might be choosing a communicative idiom–or perhaps you are unable to vary this idiom–that excludes ANY technical terms. Technical terms serve an important function to describe technical concepts.
I apologize if you are intentionally trying to come across like Jim Carey’s character,”Lloyd.” Viewers may not appreciate being patronized.

ROMEO, the Federal Government sides with the Amateur Operator. Simply get the FCC rules for Amateur Radio and see Section 97.15 (B) : “State and Local regulation of a station antenna structure must NOT preclude Amateur Radio communications. Rather, it must reasonably accomodate such communications and must constitute the minimum practicable regulation to accomplish the State or Local authorities legitimate purpose.” So, please do not be ignorant of the rights of the Amateur Radio Service.

These “Ham Radio” guys are strange antiquated odd balls. In our HOA meeting last month we voted to ban any antennas used by these guys, basically we don’t even want them in, they claim there are part of emergency communications, we thoroughly checked this out and public service people have no use for them these days (yes maybe 30-40 years ago) most agencies didn’t even know what “Ham Radio” is. Hams have historically created nothing but trouble for HOA because of their strange personalities.

What the fuck is this idiot saying starting at 1:32?
Which is really cool! its really cool! LMAO.

  15. Anonymous Says:

I am new to this and trying to learn………..but from antenna to fuses? He lost me at 1:20. I guess I am already suppose to know what a transceiver is when I walk into class on the first day. This is a “guy wire”……and these are “fuses”. Beautifully done.

You see, this is why the HAM community is slowly but surely dying away to utter shit! Old motherfuckers always complaining and bitching to the younger crowd all because “thangs aint been dun like theyz yous tah be did” and then they get the balls to belittle the novices because they have some old kenwood that they saved up for saying “themz aint no real rig ya know” instead of helping and encouraging them. Fucking stupid! And what the fuck is the “LID” shit all about?! Bunch of children.

According to my opinion I expected the course as a series of videos 1,2,3 etc. so we, the students could follow. Meanwhile what I want to say is that Kurt Glasser (is this his name?) just throws you in the deep blue sea and say to you “swim”. It’s like starting a computer course and the teacher shows you the serial port, the parallel port, the USB port. The first lesson has to be like “data in – processing – data out, the scope of computing, etc” I mean the basics and simple means so the student

I have experience in electronics, kits, I had constructed an amateur device when I was young, of course these things had to do with physics (electromagnetism). I tried to watch some videos from this guy, he maybe good in his personal knowledge but as you say in order to make a course you have to do methodically and in steps. In the first video I expected him to introduce us the units one by one. But he tries to explaine each unit’s parts instead.

With all due respect the guy is trying to teach others, however it simply cannot be done at this pace. At least he is putting something positive back into the hobby.
Expert Village do many far too short videos on complex subjects that make the “instructors” look like idiots.
