Here’s the official trailer for the movie ‘Making Waves’ by the late Nicolas Van Pallandt. Reviewed in Radcom Dec 07, this movie is not so bad (at least it’s based on Ham Radio!). If you can deal with the colourful language and bad operating practices then this film is well worth watching!

seen it but 30 mins ago, Good film! for the ham people i can see why they would get a bit off with it, due to poor drills! but for the average person, a very good film!

Watched the film and it’s not exactly good but cheesy ,the film makers should of done more research on how to use amateur radio properly …

no US release yet. it has been released on DVD in the United Kingdom, Italy and Greece so far, so you can order a copy online as long as you’ve got a region free dvd player.

…Meeting a good looking babe like her on 75 mtrs? Not in the US (you more likely to talk to a sheep). Still, will probably watch the flick out of curiousity. The can’t be any more LID-like that whats-her-face in “Contact”.

Nic read an article about the origins of the SAREX program. It occured to him that ham radio could potentially allow someone to reinvent themselves as they would like to be, rather than as they actually are, and the film sort of went from there.

I agree. But it was a watchable (if a bit of cheesy) movie!
I wonder if anyone knows why Nicholas Pallandt decided to make a Ham Radio based movie? He passed away so we can’t ask him…….
